CALL A LEGAL AID HOTLINE

Most people who are looking for free legal assistance should call the Statewide Legal Services hotline or visit their website to apply for legal help. They can tell you if you qualify. If you do, they can connect you with a lawyer - if you live in Connecticut outside of greater New Haven or Greater Hartford, that will probably be a lawyer from CLS. You can call the hotline at 1-800-453-3320, or click the button to apply for a lawyer online.

CONTACT THE PUBLIC DEFENDER

If you're facing criminal charges, CLS can't help you.  You should contact a criminal defense attorney.  If you can't afford one, you should contact the public defender.

CONTACT CLS

Some people should reach out to us directly, rather than calling the Statewide Legal Services hotline. Call us directly, or email us using our contact form, if you're in Connecticut outside of greater Hartford or greater New Haven, and you're:

  • At least 60 years old; or
  • An undocumented immigrant.

We never discriminate on the basis of national origin or immigration status, and we can, and do, serve undocumented people.
